Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

1 | lg can | Tomatoes, peeled |
2 | cloves | Garlic, minced |
2 | sm cans | Tomato paste |
1 | tbsp | Pepper |
1 | tbsp | Sugar |
2 | | Bay leaves |
1 | tsp | Parsley |
1 | lb | Ground beef, cooked |
1 | lb | Sausage, cooked |
1 | C | Water |
1 | tbsp | Olive oil |
2 | tbsp | Sweet basil |
- Sauté the garlic in olive oil until fragrant. Be sure to not brown the garlic! Add the tomatoes, simmer for 30 minutes. Add tomato paste and water. Stir until sauce is the consistency you like. Keep extra water nearby to add as sauce simmers. Add the rest of the herbs and seasonings. Cook at least 1 hour. Add the cooked ground beef and sausage about 30 minutes before serving.
